Merone Melekin is a policy professional committed to social change, racial equity, and improving the quality of life for all people.
A dedicated public servant, Merone has a decade-long track record as a political leader, advisor, strategist, problem solver, crisis manager, director of staff, and policy professional. Throughout her career in political, academic, and government organizations, she has accumulated a wealth of experience synthesizing best practices; facilitating policy research; and advancing strategic, operational, and organizational goals.
Merone serves as Chief of Transition for Governor Mark Dayton. Previously, she served as Assistant Chief of Staff in the Office of Governor Mark Dayton, in executive leadership at the Department of Employment and Economic Development and as the Policy Coordinator and Director of Federal Relations in the Office of Governor Mark Dayton and Lt. Governor Tina Smith. In her tenure in State Government, Merone has worked on a wide range of policy and operational issues. She was instrumental in leading the Governor's legislative bill process and strategy and helping coordinate state agencies in order to fulfill the administration's policy initiatives.
